This is the underground shopping center in (중앙로) Jungang-ro.
As Christmas and the holiday season are approaching, shops are decorated with lights and kick off their Christmas promotions.
However, shop owners don't look hopeful.

The tougher coronavirus restrictions make shoppers stay at home.
On weekends, the shopping center sees a temporary upturn in the number of shoppers for a promotion in which 10 percent of the purchase price is returned to buyers in a voucher.
But on weekdays, the center is just empty.

The tightened social distancing measure makes people reluctant to go out in the evening.
Not a small number of stores close early.

The underground shopping center now has much easier access for shoppers with brand-new elevators and escalators.

However, with the year end peak season for retailers days ahead, the social distancing measure has been tightened up. The underground shopping facility is also quiet.

Retailers have concerns on the possible extension of coronavirus restrictions until early January next year.

The retail businesses hoped for restoration of consumer sentiment for Christmas and the year-end, but they're now encountering stagnation once again.

상점가는 비교적 썰렁한 모습입니다

무엇보다 유통가는 1월 초까지 예정된 사회적 거리두기 조치가
연장될 지 모른다는 불안감이 더 큽니다.

잠시 완화됐던 거리두기에 성탄절 특수까지 연말 소비심리 회복을 기대했던 유통가가 침체기에 빠졌습니다.
