Police Assaulter Sentenced ‘Not Guilty’

Jeju District Court decided that a 67-year-old defendant surnamed Yang who was brought to trial on charges of interference with a public official in the exercise of his duty was ‘not guilty’.

Yang had pushed and kicked the police who were called to the scene following a report on family violence in October, 2020.

The judge explained the reason for the sentence was that the police officer, who is the victim, did not execute the duty lawfully, as the officer climbed over the wall and trespassed into the house with the help of his ex-wife.

공무집행방해 혐의로 재판에 넘겨진
67살 양 모 씨에게 무죄를 선고했습니다.

피해자인 경찰관 B씨가
양 씨의 주거지에 담을 넘고
이혼한 전 아내인 제3자의 도움을 받아
안방까지 무단으로 들어간 점 등을 토대로
B 경찰관이
적법하게 공무를 집행한 것으로
보기 힘들다며 무죄 이유를 판시했습니다.
