Price of Winter Vegetables Decline

The price levels of carrots and cabbages, which are representative winter vegetables in Jeju, are showing downturns.

According to the Jeju City Municipal Office,
the price of a box of 20 kg carrots is 18,000 won,
which is a 39% decrease compared to the price of the average year,
that is 30,000 won..

8 kgs of cabbages are being sold at 3,600 won.
This is a 58% drop from 8,700 won,
which is the price level of the average year.

The city government analyzed the reasons for the price drop.
The quality of local carrots has declined due to their poor growth
and excessive supply of cabbages caused by increase in cultivation areas in Jeollanam-do Province.

In addition, decrease in consumption and unanticipated
distribution markets caused by COVID-19
also affect the price levels.

제주의 대표적 월동채소인
당근과 양배추 가격이 하락세를 보이고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면
당근은 20kg 1상자에 1만8천원대로
평년 3만원 대비 39% 하락했습니다.

양배추의 경우 8kg 한망에 3천600원 대로
평년 8천700원에 비해 58% 떨어졌습니다.

당근은 생육부진에 따른 품질 저하,
양배추는 전남지역 재배면적 증가로 인한 과잉 공급이
가격하락에 영향을 끼친 것으로
제주시는 분석하고 있습니다.

또 코로나19 여파로 소비가 줄고
유통시장도 불투명해진 것도 영향을 주고 있습니다.
