Sports Gambler fined 8 Mil Won

A 29-year-old defendant was fined 8 million won on the charge of illegal online sports gambling 150 times with a total betting amount of 110 million won.

The defendant had gambled for four months from December of 2020.

The judge explained that the decision was based on the fact that
the amount at stake was not small which
meant that the crime was not minor
and also considered the fact that the defendant
had quit gambling before undergoing the investigation.

지난 2020년 12월부터 넉달 동안
150여 차례에 걸쳐
1억 1천여 만원 상당의
인터넷 사설 스포츠 도박을 한 혐의로 기소된
29살 A 피고인에게
벌금 800만원을 선고했습니다.

심 판사는 판결문에서
금액이 적지 않아 죄질이 가볍지 않지만
초범이고
수사기관에서 조사를 받기 전에
스스로 도박행위를 중단한 점 등을 감안해
이같이 선고한다고 판시했습니다.
