New Year, More Benefits for Multi-Child Families

This table lists the school subsidies that a high school student will get this year.
Students receive tuition fee subsidies totalling about 1.2 million won. The free education policy even covers about 550,000 won for school lunches.
Students from multi-child families will receive an additional 600,000 won voucher to cover tuition for after-school classes and free school dinners. These on their own total over 1 million won.

Beginning this year, the Provincial Office of Education has relaxed the criteria for multi-child families that are eligible for more school subsidies.


Benefits for families with three or more children will now cover families with two children.

Families with two children will also get an after-school class voucher and free dinner at high schools as the criteria for multi-child families has been eased.


With the new criteria in place, the ratio of students from multi-child families has increased from 29 percent to 55 percent.

Students from single-child families are also eligible for more benefits this year.


Expenses for school yearbooks and training activities for students from single-child families that were previously not covered will now be free of charge for students of local elementary, middle and high schools.


School trips that had only been free only for students of vocational high schools and high schools in rural areas will also be offered at no cost to students of all local high schools.


And rounding out the educational spectrum, tuition subsidies for kids aged three to five and child care subsidies for preschoolers have both been increased by 20,000 won.




다자녀 기준 2명 완화…지원 혜택도 다양


올해 고등학생 한명이 지원받는 교육비 항목입니다.

무상교육과 무상급식 실시로
120만원 상당의 수업료와
54만원 상당의 급식비,
교과서 구입비를 낼 필요가 없습니다.

특히 다자녀 가정 학생들은
60만원 상당의 방과후 수강료나 저녁 급식비도 면제받아
일반 학생들보다
연간 백만원 이상 더 혜택을 받습니다.


이처럼 교육복지 혜택이 큰 다자녀 가정 선정 기준이
올해부터 크게 완화됐습니다.


지난해까지 세 자녀 가정에 지원하던 것을
두 자녀로 확대했습니다.


"올해부터 다자녀 기준이 두 자녀까지 확대되면서 방과후 자유수강권과 고교 저녁 급식비를 두 자녀 가정까지 확대 지원하게 됩니다."


다자녀 기준 완화로 지원을 받는 학생은
전체 학생의 29%에서 55%로 늘어나게 됩니다.


일반 학생들이 받는 지원 항목도 늘어납니다.


지난해까지 다자녀 가정에만 지원되는 졸업앨범비와 수련활동비가
올해부터 초,중,고 모든 학생들에게 확대됩니다.


또 특성화고등학교와
비평준화 일반고 학생에게만 지원되던
수학여행비도
모든 학생들이 받을 수 있게 됐습니다.


만 3살부터 5살까지 아동에게 지원되는 누리과정비와
유치원에 지원되는
보육료도 각각 2만원이 인상됩니다.
