Strawberry Prices Rise

As the prices of strawberries are skyrocketing, managing the demand and supply of strawberries is at issue.

According to the Jeju Province Agricultural Research and Extension Services,
the average price of strawberries sold by auction
at the local agricultural cooperative´s joint market
since November last year records 20,000 won per kg.

This figure is the highest price ever showing an increase of 41% compared to last year.The increase is attributed to a 60% drop in shipments
of strawberries compared to last year
due to withering of the seedlings
caused by abnormally high temperatures.

The institute said the amount of strawberries shipping out
is expected to increase, so local farmers are asked to
manage their supply and product quality
to avoid leading a decrease in prices.



딸기 가격 역대 최고…수급 관리 비상

딸기 가격이 고공행진하면서
수급 관리에 비상이 걸렸습니다.

제주도 농업기술원에 따르면
지난해 11월부터 제주시농협공판장에서
경매된 딸기 평균가격은 킬로당 2만 원 수준으로,
지난해보다 41% 올라 역대 최고가를 기록했습니다.

이는 지난해 딸기 모종이
이상고온 현상으로 고사하면서
출하량이 전년대비 60%까지 떨어졌기 때문입니다.

농업기술원은
이달부터 딸기가 홍수 출하될 것으로 예상된다며
가격 하락으로 이어지지 않도록 수급 조절과
품질 관리에 주의할 것을 당부했습니다.
