On Alert for Highly Pathogenic AI Detection

This is the habitat of migratory birds in (오조리) Ojo-ri, Seongsan-eup.
The quarantine vehicles are constantly moving around, spraying disinfectants .

There is a notice notifying of the limitation of access by general vehicles.

The avian influenza virus was detected in a carcass of a wild migratory bird found in the area on February 4th.

A close examination confirmed that the virus was a highly pathogenic strain which is highly contagious and fatal to poultry.

Movement restrictions have been imposed on 407,000 chickens at 30 farms within a 10-kilometer radius from where the dead bird was found.

Three checkpoints have been installed around the migratory bird habitat to limit access of people including trekkers at nearby Olle trails.

The provincial office announced that it has carried out emergency monitoring and there are no signs of avian flu at nearby poultry farms.

Quarantine measures including the emergency movement restrictions will be lifted if animals at the farms test negative at a test this Friday(Feb.25).

The province advises people not to visit poultry farms and migratory bird habitats.



고병원성 AI 검출…긴급 차단 방역 '비상'


서귀포시 성산읍 오조리 철새도래지.

방역차량이 곳곳을 돌며 쉴새없이 소독약을 뿜어냅니다.

주변에는 일반 차량의
출입 통제를 알리는
안내문이 붙어있습니다.

지난 4일, 이 일대에서 발견된
야생철새 폐사체에서
조류인플루엔자 바이러스가 검출됐기 때문입니다.

해당 바이러스를 정밀 검사한 결과 고병원성으로 확인됐습니다.

이에 따라
폐사체가 발견된 곳으로부터
반경 10km 안에 있는
30개의 농가에서 키우는
닭 40만 7천여 마리에 대해
이동제한 조치가 내려졌습니다.

또한 철새 도래지 주변으로
초소 3개를 설치해
올레꾼 등 사람들의 출입을 통제하고 있습니다.

제주도는
주변 가금농가를 중심으로
긴급 예찰을 벌인 결과
아직까지 특이사항은 발견되지 않았다고 밝혔습니다.


현재 내려진 긴급이동제한 등의 조치는
오는 25일 정밀검사에서
음성이 나올 경우 모두 해제될 예정입니다.

제주도는 가급적 가금농가와
철새도래지의 방문을
자제해 달라고 당부했습니다.
