Jeju Submits Development Plan to Seoul

The provincial government will push forward in establishing a smart innovative city and plans to construct trams as a new mode of transportation.

The provincial government submitted a strategy plan with 16 development strategies to Seoul. The plan has a vision that Jeju exceed expectation of an island and position itself as a leading province in Korea.

Main strategic projects include construction of a forward aerospace base and ring road at mountainous area and introduction of trams, along with establishment of a smart innovative city and national industrial complex.

Meanwhile, this strategic plan is pushed forward as a response to the exclusion of Jeju from a multiregional cooperative support plan that Seoul announced last October.



제주도, '트램 도입' 등 강소권 발전전략 제출

제주도가 스마트 혁신도시 조성과
신교통수단인 트램 건설 등을 전략 사업으로 추진합니다.

'섬을 뛰어 넘어 대한민국을 리드하는 강소권 제주'를 비전으로 하는 16개 사업이 포함된
강소권 발전전략안을 마련하고 정부에 제출했습니다.

주요 전략사업으로는스마트 혁신도시와 국가산업단지 조성을 비롯해
항공우주 전진기지 구축, 청정 제주트램 도입,
중산간 순환도로 건설 등이 담겼습니다.

한편 강소권 발전전략은
정부가 지난해 10월 발표한
초광역협력 지원전략에
제주가 제외된 데 따른 대응 차원으로 추진되고 있습니다.
