Up to 8 People May Gather

Starting from this week, restrictions on private gatherings will allow up to eight people to gather. Previously, private gatherings of more than six people were prohibited.

However, the restriction on operating hours for
restaurants and cafes to close by 11 p.m.
will remain in effect.

Seoul has announced the new social distancing measures
that will be in effect for two weeks
from this week through April 3rd.

The national government said that easing social distancing
may spike concerns due to the widespread of the Omicron variant,
huge burdens on the medical treatment system and
unpredictability of when the peak of the Omicron wave will actually be.

The government added that the fatality rate of the Omicron variant
is lower than that of the Delta variant,
but the case where Omicron variant becomes similar to a flu
only accounts for people who have been vaccinated.
Thus, officials urge people to get vaccinated.


사적모임 8명으로 확대…영업시간 11시 유지

이번 주부터(방송 21일 기준)
현행 6명인 사적모임 인원 제한이 8명으로 확대됩니다.

대신 밤 11시까지인 식당 등 다중이용시설 영업시간 제한은 현행 그대로 유지됩니다.

정부는 이번 주부터(방송 21일 기준) 다음달 3일까지 2주간 적용될
이같은 내용의 새로운 사회적 거리두기 조정안을 발표했습니다.

오미크론 대유행과 의료대응체계 부담,
유행 정점 예측의 불확실성을 고려할 때
거리두기를 대폭 완화하기에는 우려가 크다며 이같이 결정했다고 설명했습니다.

특히 오미크론의 치명률이 델타에 비해 낮지만
독감과 유사해지는 경우는 백신을 접종한 때 뿐 이라며
계속적인 백신 접종 참여를 당부했습니다.
