Taxi Service Issues for Seniors

The Jeju Audit and Inspection Commission has revealed operational flaws in taxi services for elders in the province.

The commission analyzed 447,000 transactions paid by welfare cards from 2018 through last year.

6.6% out of 30,000 transactions were found to have overcharged fare fees and 69,000 transactions revealed that drivers operated without running taximeters.

The commission argued that subsidizing taxi companies with 70 million won is unfair.

Thus, the commission asked the provincial office to retrieve the subsidies and improve the system.

지난 2018년부터 지난해까지
복지카드로 택시요금을 결제한
44만 7천여 건을 분석했습니다.

이 중 6.6%인
3만 건이 정상 요금보다 과다하게 결제 됐고
요금 미터기를 끄고 운행한 사례도
6만 9천 건에 이르는 것으로 나타났습니다.

감사위는
이로 인해 택시회사에 보조금 7천여 만원이
부당하게 지급됐다며
보조금 회수와 행복택시 결제 시스템 개선을
제주도에 요구했습니다.
