Suspension Against Jamissum Building Project

The Provincial Council’s Culture, Tourism, and Sports Committee urged the provincial office to halt the purchasing process of the (재밋섬) Jamissum building which has is being pushed forward by the province.

The committee released a statement asking to suspend the purchase of the (재밋섬) Jamissum building last month followed by the results of the inspection by the Board of Audit and Inspection.
However, in the statement, the committee has confirmed that the province asked the Jeju Foundation of Arts and Culture to promote the project.

Committee members claimed that the Inspection and Audit Commission released negative inspection results
on purchasing the building
and that the methods used for securing funds was unclear.
Thus, the committee concerns the provincial office’s rough-and-ready operation of the purchasement.

In addition, the committee requested a fair policy decision from the provincial government through hearing public opinions on the issue after launching a new provincial government.



도의회 문광위 "재밋섬 건물 매입 중단해야"

제주도의회 문화관광체육위원회가
제주도가 추진하고 있는 재밋섬 건물 매입에 대한
절차 중단을 촉구했습니다.

문광위는 성명서를 내고 지난달 감사원 감사 결과에 따른 후속조치로 재밋섬 매입 중단을 요구했지만
제주도는 이달 5일 문화에술재단에 사업 추진을 요청한 것으로
확인됐다고 밝혔습니다.

문광위는 특히 재밋섬 건물 매입은
감사 결과 부적정 처분 요구를 받았고 재원확보 방안조차 불투명하지만
지방선거로 어수선한 시기에 제주도의 졸속 처리가 우려된다고 주장했습니다.

그러면서 새로운 도정이 출범하면 도민사회와 충분한 공론화 과정을 거쳐
합리적인 정책 결정을 해야 한다고 요구했습니다.
