Restrictions on Songaksan Mountain Development

As follow-up measures of the provincial government’s declaration at Songaksan Mountain, the land around the mountain will be designated as development restricted areas.

The provincial office announced its proposal to designate development restricted areas, stating that the areas of 190,000 square meters at (상모리) Sangmo-ri, (대정읍) Daejeong-eup need to be managed systematically, such as conserving the environmental landscape, and enhancing accessibility and its functions.

Restricted activities include construction, altering the shape and quality of the land. All restrictions will be in effect for three years.

The province will accept opinions on the proposal through June 1st.
Then a committee will review the proposal and the designation of the development restricted areas will be notified.

Former Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong, has decided to restrict further development and exploitation of land
by designating (송악산) Songaksan Mountain as a cultural asset.
This decision, so-called the Songaksan Mountain declaration, was determined to alleviate rising concerns on ongoing development projects.


송악산 일대 '개발행위허가 제한지역' 지정 추진

제주도가 발표한 송악선언에 따른 후속 조치로
송악산 일대가 개발행위허가 제한지역으로 지정됩니다.

제주도는 대정읍 상모리 일대 19만 제곱미터에 대한 자연경관 보존과
접근성 개선, 배후기능 육성 등 체계적인 관리가 필요하다며
개발행위허가 제한지역 지정안을 공고했습니다.

제한대상 행위는 건축물 건축 또는 공작물 설치, 토지 형질변경, 토지 분할 등이며 제한 기간은 3년으로 정했습니다.

제주도는 다음 달 1일까지 이번 개발 제한에 대한 의견을 제출받고
도시계획심의위원회 절차를 밟은 뒤 개발행위제한 지정을 고시할 계획입니다.

앞서 원희룡 전 지사는 지난 2020년 11월 송악산 일대를 문화재로 지정해
개발사업으로 인한 우려를 종식하겠다며 이른바 송악선언을 발표한 바 있습니다.
