Using Natural Enemies as Pests Control

The Jeju Agricultural Research & Extension Services will promote a demonstration project of developing a pest control technique by using natural enemies in place of agricultural pesticide.

The institution began the project in which natural enemies were released in greenhouses of 25 strawberry farms to reduce pests.

Main natural enemies of two-spotted spider mites, plant lice and thrips, which are main pests of greenhouse strawberries, are being released. The aim is to minimize the damage of the crops and reduce the amount of chemicals used.

The Jeju Agricultural Research & Extension Services will not only distribute natural enemies to farms, but also offer education to farmers.


'해충 천적' 곤충 활용 방제 시범사업 추진

농약이 아닌 천적을 활용한
해충 방제 기술 시범사업을 추진합니다.

이에따라 올해 딸기 재배 농가 25곳을 대상으로
주요 해충별 천적을 시설 하우스에 방사해
해충 밀도를 줄이는 시범사업에 착수했습니다.

시설 딸기의 주요 해충인
응애나 진딧물, 총채벌레를 잡아먹는 천적 곤충을 방사해
농작물에는 피해를 줄이고
농약 사용량을 줄인다는 방침입니다.

농업기술원은
단순히 천적을 보급하는 데 그치지 않고
농업인이 적정 시기에 투입할 수 있도록 교육도 병행할 계획입니다.
