Motorcyclist Killed by Drunk Driver

At dawn, a motorcycle runs toward the intersection.
The moment it enters the intersection, a black sedan appears, and crashes into the motorcycle.


At about 2:20 am on the 16th, a car driven by a driver in his twenties hit two motorcycles one after another at an intersection in (연동) Yeon-dong, Jeju City.


A 24-year-old motorcyclist died in the crash, and a 35-year-old motorcyclist is being treated at a hospital for a serious injury to his leg.

I heard a bang. I thought a building collapsed. I came to the place where the sound came from. It was serious, really serious. The motorcycle just got smashed, and the motorcyclist curled up here.


The vehicle hit a motorcycle entering the intersection and crossed the center line and hit another motorcycle coming from the opposite lane.
Both motorcyclists were delivering food.


According to a police investigation, the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol and his blood alcohol level exceeded the amount for license suspension.


At the time of the accident, there was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle beside the driver.


The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, including whether it was speeding, based on video footage recorded by nearby CCTVs.


At the same time the police are reviewing booking the passenger on charges of aiding and abetting drunk driving.




또 음주 교통사고…2명 사상


새벽 시간, 오토바이 한 대가 교차로를 향해 주행합니다.

교차로에 진입한 그 순간,

까만 승용차 한 대가
빠른 속도로 달려오더니 순식간에 오토바이와 충돌합니다.


16일 새벽 2시 20분쯤.

제주시 연동의 한 교차로에서
20대 운전자가 몰던 승용차가
주행하던 오토바이 두 대를 잇따라 들이받았습니다.


이 사고로
오토바이 운전자인 24살 A씨가 숨졌고,
또 다른 오토바이 운전자인
35살 B씨가
다리 등을 크게 다쳐
병원에서 치료를 받고 있습니다.

"쾅 하는 소리가 나서 어디 건물이 무너진 줄 알고 쫓아 나와 보니까 여기가 난리가 났더라고 오토바이가. 막 사람이 여기 가운데 쓰러졌는지 (몸을) 웅크린 상태로 있고. 심각했어요 진짜 심각했어. 오토바이가 그냥 박살 나고 저기 뭐…."


해당 차량은
교차로에 진입하던 오토바이를 친 뒤
중앙선을 침범해
맞은 편에서 오던
또다른 오토바이를 연이어 들이받았습니다.

두 오토바이 운전자 모두 음식을 배달하던 중이였습니다.


경찰 조사 결과
승용차 운전자는 술을 마신 상태로
당시 혈중알코올 농도가
면허 정지 수치였던 것으로 알려졌습니다.


사고 당시 차량 안에는
운전자 외에 1명이
더 탑승해 있던 것으로 전해졌습니다.


경찰은 주변 CCTV 등을 토대로
과속 여부 등
정확한 사고 경위를 조사하는 한편


차량 동승자에 대해서도
사실 관계를 확인해
음주 운전 방조 혐의로의 입건을 검토하고 있습니다.
