International Air Routes Reopened

With the recent increase in international wheat prices, Jeju’s project to establish wheat production complexes on the island is gaining attention.

Overseas flights - which had been suspended due to the pandemic - have resumed.
The excitement of those arriving is clearly visible.

I couldn't travel overseas for two years because of COVID-19, so I'm really excited to be here.


It was two years ago that entry restrictions were imposed to try and slow, or even stop, the pandemic.


But now, this direct flight from Bangkok alone has brought with it about 170 tourists.
Upon their arrival at Jeju International Airport, they took PCR tests and, after getting their results, began sightseeing.


Their four-day-long itinerary included popular sites such as (천지연) Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and (송악산) Songaksan Mountain.

With international air routes reopening, the local tourism industry has high hopes.

Jeju is one of the most popular tourist destinations for those in Southeast Asia, including Thais. We expect the number of tourists from the region to explode soon after the reopening of international air routes on June 1st. And we're ready for them.

"워낙 동남아 분들은 태국도 마찬가지이지만 제주를 워낙 인기 있는 관광지로 선정하고 있기 때문에 지금 6월 1일 제주공항 (국제선) 오픈 이후로 아마 폭발적으로 관광객이 늘 것으로 예상하고 있기 때문에 저희 여행사도 철저히 준비를 하고 있습니다."


Jeju Province has plans to strengthen overseas advertising so that more regular flights can be made in the future.
It is going to come up with measures to deal with quarantine concerns.

We will actively cooperate with related agencies to deal with possible quarantine issues, and we will also work with medical institutions for PCR tests and other matters so that residents have no need to worry.


With the resumption of international flights, the local tourism industry is taking its first steps towards recovery.




제주 국제선 하늘길 2년여 만 재개

코로나로 중단됐던
국제선 운항이 다시 시작되면서 제주를 찾은 해외관광객입니다.

공항으로 들어선 관광객들의 얼굴에는 설렘으로 가득합니다.

"코로나 때문에 2년 동안 여행을 못했는데 여행 오게 돼서 기뻐요."


외국과 제주를 직접 잇는 하늘길이 재개됐습니다.
코로나19 여파로 입국제한조치가 내린 지 2년 여 만입니다.


이번에 방콕에서 제주를 잇는 직항 노선을 이용해
단체로 입도한
외국인 관광객은 170여 명.

이들은 제주공항에 도착하자마자
별도로 마련된 장소로 이동해
PCR 검사를 받은 뒤 본격적인 관광에 나섰습니다.


3박 4일 일정으로
천지연폭포와 송악산 등
제주 곳곳을 관광할 계획입니다.

"제주 날씨가 엄청 좋고 기분도 좋아요. 다시 제주에 오고 싶어요."

국제선이 재개되면서 여행업계는 기대감이 큽니다.

앞으로 정기 취항이 이뤄질 수 있도록
현지 홍보활동을 강화해 나갈 계획입니다.

일부 방역에 대한 우려에 대해서도
관련 대책을
마련해 나가겠다는 입장입니다.

"유관기관과 적극 협업해서 방역에 문제가 없도록 저희들이 철저히 대비하고 또 PCR 검사라든가 이런 부분도 의료기관과 적극 협력해서 앞으로 도민들이 우려하는 일이 발생하지 않도록 적극 노력해 나가겠습니다."
