April 3rd Retrial Held End of June

The collective retrial of 14 prisoners who were imprisoned during the April 3rd Incident will be held at the end of this month. The retrial was delayed due to an appeal made by the Jeju District Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Jeju District Court has set the 21st as the date
of the special trial for the April 3rd Incident.

If the 14 prisoners are declared not guilty,
their honor will be restored after 50 years since the retrial was requested.

Meanwhile, the District Prosecutor’s Office made an appeal on the local court’s decision of initiating the retrial process of the 14 prisoners in March. However, the (광주) Gwangju High Court dismissed the appeal.

4.3 수형인 14명에 대한 재심 재판이 이달 말 열립니다.

제주지방법원 형사 4부는
4.3 특별재심 2건에 대한 공판기일을 오는 21일로 지정했습니다.

재판에서 무죄가 선고되면
수형인 14명은 재심을 청구한지 반년 만에
명예회복을 이루게 됩니다.

앞서 검찰은
지난 3월, 제주지방법원의 재심 개시 결정에 대해 항고했지만 광주고등법원에서 기각됐습니다.
