Jeju City to Sell Recyclables Directly to Private Companies

To improve the inefficiency in the process of handling recyclable materials, the Jeju City Municipal Office will sell recyclables collected in recycling centers located in dong-administrative areas directly to private companies from July.

Currently, the recyclables which are separated and sorted are transported and then they are sorted again.

Two types of recyclable materials which are transparent plastic bottles and scrap metal ,including cans, will be sold.

A total of 188 tons of transparent plastic bottles and 84 tons of scrap metal and cans is expected to be discharged during the second half of the year and the sales amount is expected to be 30 million won.

The Jeju City government will expand the types of recyclable materials sold to companies from next year depending on the results of the test operation.

동 지역 재활용도움센터에서 수거되는
재활용품을 민간업체에 직접 매각합니다.

매각 대상은
투명페트병과 캔, 고철류 2개 품목입니다.

오는 하반기 투명페트병은 188톤,
캔.고철류는 84톤이 분리배출될 것으로 추정돼
매각 금액은 3천만 원에 달할 것으로 예상됩니다.

제주시는 시범운영 결과를 분석해
내년부터는 매각 품목을 확대해 나갈 계획입니다.
