New Chief of Jeju Police Agency to Strengthen Crime Prevention

The new chief of the Jeju Police Agency, (이상률) Lee Sang-ryul, said that the police will work to strengthen public order and enhance its system to strengthen crime prevention.

At a press conference on the 24th, the new chief said that the Jeju Police Agency would secure a budget of 1.2 billion won to install surveillance cameras in areas with lower safety indexes. He also emphasized to strengthen cooperation with the municipal police to keep public order and enhance safety.

He showed his opinion about establishing the Police Bureau under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. He said that while democratic control by citizens is necessary, more consideration is required to secure legality and democracy.
