Power Demand Hits Record High

Energy demand has hit an all-time high with the sweltering heat.

The Jeju Office of the Korea Power Exchange (KPX) announced that the energy demand in Jeju hit a record high surpasing 1,026,000 kilowatts as of 7 p.m. on the 7th.

It also confirmed to be stable with a reserve of 171,000 kilowatts
and reserve ratio of 16.7%.

KPX also stated that early July is usually when demand reaches a record high due to heat waves and increased influx of tourists and that numbers are expected to increase during the summer season.

계속된 폭염에 제주지역 여름철 전력수요가 역대 최대치를 경신했습니다.

전력거래소 제주본부에 따르면 7일 저녁 7시 기준 제주지역 전력수요는 102만 6천 킬로와트로 최고 기록을 경신했습니다.

다만 공급 예비력은 17만 1천 킬로와트,
예비율은 16.7%로 수급은 안정적이라고 설명했습니다.

전력거래소는
최근 폭염과 관광수요 증가가 맞물려
이례적으로 7월 초에 최대전력 수요를 경신했다며, 올여름 기록 경신이 이어질 것으로 내다봤습니다.
