5.16 Roads Painted for Night Driving

The 5.16 road will be newly painted to improve road visibility for night driving and rainy days.

The province said it will paint the roads to heighten the visibility in rain and for night driving. The road is a 22km long stretch between the intersection of Jeju City's No. 1 Sanrok Road to Seogwipo’s Seoseong-ro. The construction is planned for completion by the end of next month once the painting company is selected.

The road has a traffic volume of 30,000 vehicles per day. Without proper lighting the roads were a high risk especially on rainy days.



5.16도로에 야간·빗길에도 잘 보이는 차선 도색


5.16도로 전 구간에 야간이나 비 날씨에도 도로 노면 표시가 잘 보이도록 차선이 새로 도색됩니다.

제주도는 5.16도로 제주시 제1산록도로 입구 교차로에서 서귀포 서성로 입구 교차로까지 22km 구간에 "우천형 고휘도 차선"을 도색한다고 밝혔습니다. 도색 업체가 선정되면 다음 달에 공사를 마무리할 계획입니다.

5.16도로에는 하루 교통량이 3만대 안팎으로 많지만 조명시설이 없어서 비가 오는 야간에는 차선이 보이지 않아 사고위험이 컸습니다.
