Decisions Made to Launch New Police Bureau

The ordinance to establish a new police bureau within the Ministry of Public Administration and Security has been confirmed and will take effect next month.

Prime Minister (한덕수) Han Duck-soo approved the ordinance for the establishment of the new police bureau and the Minister of Public Administration and Security’s Code of Conduct for the Commissioner of Police.

It is the first time in 31 years that the police bureau has been established within the Ministry of Public Administration and Security
The new bureau will be responsible for police policies, appointments, national Police Commission's agenda, and support for autonomous police.



'경찰국 신설' 시행령 국무회의 의결…31년 만 부활


논란이 되고 있는 행정안전부 내 경찰국 신설 시행령안이 26일 국무회의를 통과해
다음달 2일 공포와 동시에 시행됩니다.


정부는 오늘 오전 한덕수 국무총리 주재로 국무회의를 열고 경찰국 신설 시행령안과 행안부 장관의 경찰청장 지휘규칙안을 의결했습니다.

행안부 내에 경찰 업무조직이 신설되는 것은 지난 1991년 이후 31년 만입니다.

경찰국은 경찰 관련 중요정책과 법령의 국무회의 상정을 비롯해 총경 이상 경찰공무원에 대한 임용제청권, 국가경찰위원회 안건 부의, 자치경찰 지원 등의 업무를 수행하게 됩니다.
