Soon after the crackdown begins, drivers without seat belts are caught one after the other.
Big trucks, rental cars, and even taxis carrying passengers are caught.

Drivers without seat belts are fined 30,000 won.

Soon, a driver of a rental car was caught.
The driver, as well as the backseat passengers, did not wear seat belts.

29 cases were caught within an hour after the police started the crackdown.


Since last month when the intensive crackdown began, about 900 violators have been caught until recently.


Since 2018, it has been mandatory to wear seat belts for all passengers, but there are still many violators.

There were many cases where seat belts were not fastened in the back seat.
In the event of a traffic accident, the fatality rate in the rear seat without seatbelts is 3.7 times higher than passengers with seat belts, while the fatality rate in the front seat without seatbelts is 2.8 times more than in the front seat with seatbelts.

Seat belt wearing rate in the back seat is very low. In the event of an accident, the back seat is more likely to get hurt compared to the front seat, so please wear seat belts when you get in a car.

In the past five years, 16 people have died simply because they did not wear seat belts in Jeju.

Seatbelts significantly increase your chance of survival during a crash. So, seatbelts are the safest choice drivers and passengers can make while driving.

경찰들이 지나가던 차량들을 한 쪽에 멈춰 세웁니다.

안전띠 착용 단속에 나선 겁니다.

단속이 시작되자마자
안전띠를 매지 않은 운전자들이 줄지어 적발됩니다.

대형 화물트럭부터 렌터카까지.
심지어 승객을 태운 택시도 적발됩니다.

부랴부랴 안전띠를 매 보지만 이미 늦었습니다.

"안전벨트를 안 매셨네요? (아 금방 여기 집이라서요.) 중간에 매신 거죠? 경찰이 확인한 겁니다. 인정하시죠? (네.) 면허증 제시해 주십시오."

안전띠를 매지 않은 운전자에게 범칙금 3만 원이 부과됩니다.

뒷자리 동승자들도 안전띠를 매지 않았습니다.


운전자에게는 범칙금 3만원이,
안전띠를 매지 않은 동승자들에 대해서도
과태료 3만 원이 추가로 부과됩니다.

전좌석 안전띠 착용이 의무화됐지만
여전히 제대로 지켜지지 않는 겁니다.

특히 뒷좌석에서
안전띠를 매지 않은 경우가 많았는데,


교통사고가 났을 경우
뒷좌석 치사율은 3.7배로
앞좌석보다 높아 더욱 치명적입니다.

"(단속해 보면) 뒷좌석 안전띠 착용(률)이 매우 낮은 편입니다. 사고가 났을 때는 뒷좌석이 (앞 좌석에 비해) 오히려 다칠 확률이 많기 때문에 (차량 탑승 시) 전부 다 안전띠를 착용해 주셨으면 좋겠습니다."

생명을 지킬 수 있는 만큼
안전띠 착용의 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있습니다.
