Thief Caught Within Minutes

This CCTV footage, taken in front of a building in Jeju City, shows a man on the street approaching another man, sleeping and presumably drunk, eventually sitting down next to him.
The man simply looks around for a while before stooping over and starting to rummage through the pockets of the drunk man.


After a moment he walks away casually, and leaves the scene on a motorcycle.
This video was luckily captured on CCTV.


The Jeju CCTV control center witnessed the crime while monitoring the cameras, and immediately reported the situation to the police.
Within just eight minutes, and working with the CCTV control center, the police situation room, and officers in the regional patrol division, police had arrested a man in his 50s just one kilometer from the scene of the crime.

The CCTV control center described the suspect in detail and the police situation room informed us immediately of his escape route. We were able to find his motorcycle, then him, quickly, leading to an arrest.


A further police investigation discovered that the arrested man had also stolen a pack of cigarettes that same day, and had recently been released from prison for regular theft.




'취객 상대 절도' CCTV에 덜미…8분 만에 검거


제주시의 한 건물 앞.
술에 취해 잠든 취객 옆으로
한 남성이 다가와 자연스레 곁에 앉습니다.

잠시 주위를 살피며 눈치를 보더니
이내 자리를 바꿔 앉아
취객의 주머니를 뒤적거리며 무언가를 꺼냅니다.


무언가를 훔친 이 남성은
유유히 걸어나가
오토바이를 타고 현장을 떠납니다.

잠이 든 취객을 상대로
절도행각을 벌인 범행 현장이
고스란히 관제센터 CCTV에 포착됐습니다.


제주CCTV관제센터는
모니터링 도중
이 같은 상황을 확인하고
곧바로 112에 신고했습니다.


신고가 접수되고 8분 만에 경찰은
사건발생 현장에서
1km 떨어진 부근에서
50대 남성 A씨를 발견해 검거했습니다.

관제센터와
112지령실, 지역경찰의 공조로
신속하게 피의자를 검거할 수 있었던 겁니다.

"관제센터에서 용의자 인상착의를 상세히 특정을 해줬고요. 그리고 상황실에서도 도주로 등을 저희한테 신속히 알려줘서 용의자가 타고 간 오토바이를 발견하고 주변을 확인해 보니까 피의자를 발견해서 검거하게 됐습니다. "

입건된 피의자 A씨는
상습절도 혐의로 복역 후
최근 출소해
누범기간 중 이 같은 범행을 저지른 것으로 드러났습니다.
