On-site Review for World Geopark next Month

UNESCO's on-site assessment will be executed next month to re-certify Jeju World Geopark recognition.

This examination will be executed from the 13th to the 16th of next month at the attractions of the World Geopark in the province. Sites will include Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, Suwolbong Peak, Sanbangsan Mountain, and Yongmeori Beach.

The evaluation score must be above a certain standard to continue its status as a world geopark, and the final results will be announced at the UNESCO General Assembly scheduled for December.

Jeju Island has been re-certified twice in 2014 and 2019 since it was first designated as a World Geopark in 2010.



내달, 제주도 세계지질공원 재인증 현장 심사


제주도 세계지질공원 재인증을 위한 유네스코의 현장 심사가 다음달 실시됩니다.
이번 심사는 다음달 13일부터 16일까지 성산일출봉과 수월봉, 산방산, 용머리해안 등 도내 세계지질공원 대표 명소에서 이뤄집니다.

평가 점수가 일정 기준 이상을 받아야 세계지질공원 지위를 이어갈 수 있으며 최종 결과는 오는 12월 예정된 유네스코 총회를 통해 발표됩니다.

제주도는 지난 2010년 처음으로 세계지질공원으로 인정 받은 이후 2014년과 2019년 두차례 재인증 받았습니다.
