August with Most Domestic Tourists

The number of domestic tourists visiting Jeju this summer in August broke record.

According to the Jeju Tourism Association, the number of tourists visiting Jeju over the past month hit 1,279,632, an increase of 30,000 compared to 2019, the last record breaking year.

Reasons for the increase are estimated to be due to COVID-19, increase in oil prices and exchange rates and with more people choosing Jeju island over overseas travel.


The number of tourists who visited Jeju by the end of last month is 9.36 million, the fastest increase since COVID-19. At this rate, a number of between 14 million to 15 million visitors are expected to visit Jeju by the end of this year.

올여름 제주를 찾은 내국인 관광객이 역대 최다 인원을 기록했습니다.

제주도관광협회에 따르면 지난 한달 동안 제주를 찾은 관광객은 127만 9천 632명으로 직전 가장 많았던 2019년 보다 3만여 명 증가했습니다.

코로나19뿐 아니라 최근 유가와 환율이 오르며
해외 여행 대신 제주를 선택하는 경우 늘며 방문객 수가 증가한 것으로 풀이됩니다.

올들어 지난달 말까지 제주를 찾은 관광객은 936만여 명으로 코로나19 이후 가장 빠른 증가 속도를 보이고 있고 이대로라면 올 연말까지 1천400만명에서 1천500만명 사이의 방문객이 제주를 찾을 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.
