Jeju Terminates Warm Sea Water Warning

The Jeju Institute of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has confirmed that it no longer sees warm sea water - low salt water inflows from China's Yangtze River to Jeju coast and terminated all warnings.

Due to the current drought in China, the outflow of the Yangtze River fell 60% year-on-year to 14,000 tons per second, and the recent typhoon "Hinnamno" mixed the upper and lower floors of seawater
leading to predictions of a halt to the low-salt waters inflow.

The Korea Institute of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has operated an emergency situation team since June to strengthen its forecasting activities.

제주도 해양수산연구원이 중국 양자강에서 유출되는 고수온 저염분수의 제주연안 유입이 더 이상 없을 것으로 보고
관련 비상상황반 운영을 종료합니다.

현재 중국 가뭄으로 인해 양자강 유출량이 1초에 1만 4천톤으로 평년 대비 60% 감소했으며
최근 태풍 '힌남노'의 영향으로 해수의 상하층수가 혼합돼
더 이상 저염분수는 관측되지 않을 것으로 예측했습니다.

해양수산연구원은 지난 6월부터 비상상황반을 운영해 고수온 저염분수 유입 모니터링과 무인해양관측장비 투입을 통해 예찰활동을 강화했습니다.
