A Relook on Transportation Trams

The 8th elected administration led by Governor (오영훈) Oh Young-hoon, is regaining attention on the government's plan to introduce a new transportation tram.

The province recently commissioned the Korea Railroad Research Institute to order a pre-validity review service for the introduction of Jeju Island trams.

The province is currently reevaluating its electricity and hydrogen systems in connection with routes and bus transfers based on economic feasibility.

The province had begun looking into the possibility of developing a tram system for Jeju since the 5th administration led by (우근민) Woo Geun-min and was further reviewed by following former Governor (원희룡) Won Hee-ryong, but was canceled or postponed due to economic problems.



신교통수단 '트램' 도입 방안 재추진

민선 8기 오영훈 도정이 신교통수단인 트램 도입 방안을 재추진하며 관심을 모으고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도는 최근 한국철도기술연구원에 의뢰해 제주도 트랩 도입을 위한 사전타당성 검토용역을 발주했습니다.

전기와 수소 등 제주에 적합한 기준을 평가하게 되며 경제성을 기준으로 한 노선, 버스 환승장과 연계한 교통체계 검토가 이뤄집니다.

트램 도입은 민선 5기 우근민 도정에 이어 민선 6.7기 원희룡 도정까지 잇따라 검토됐었으나 경제성 문제로 무산되거나 연기한 바 있습니다.
