Fatal Accident at JNU Demolition Site

The director and manager of a demolition were sent to prosecution for violating the Serious Disaster Punishment Act.

These charges were in relation to an accidental death at a construction site at JNU. According to the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Administration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor, it was the first local case violating the Severe Disaster Punishment Act.

The representative was charged for neglecting safety reporting regulations, and the on-site manager and safety and health supervisor were prosecuted on charges of violating the Industrial Safety and Health Act.

The police reported that 4 people including the site manager who was in his 60’s were sent to prosecution for charges of negligence.

Currently two local cases involving the Severe Disaster Punishment Act are under investigation.




제주대 기숙사 철거 사망사고 중대재해처벌법 첫 적용


지난 2월 제주대학교 기숙사 철거 공사 현장 사망사고와 관련해 현장 소장과 관리자 등이
중대재해처벌법 위반 등의 혐의로 검찰에 송치됐습니다.

고용노동부 광주지방고용노동청에 따르면
이번 사고는 제주에서 중대재해처벌법이 적용된 첫 번째 사례로

해당 공사를 맡은 업체의 대표는 안전보고 관리체계 등을 제대로 갖추지 않아
중대재해처벌법 위반 혐의로,
나머지 현장 책임자와 안전보건관리책임자 등도
산업안전 보건법 위반 혐의로 추가 송치했습니다.


이와 관련해 경찰은
60대 현장소장 등 4명에 대해
업무상 과실치사 혐의로 검찰에 넘겼다고 밝혔습니다.

제주에서 중대재해처벌법을 적용해
수사가 진행 중인 사건은 모두 2건입니다.
