Poisonous Octopus at Gimnyeong

Around 2:40 in the afternoon on the 21st, a greater blue-ringed octopus was found in the waters near the camping site of Gimnyeong Beach in Jeju city.

The octopus was 4 centimeters in width and 6 centimeters in length. The Jeju Maritime Police handled the octopus per guidelines provided by the Jeju Fisheries Research Institute.

Greater blue-ringed octopuses are 10 times more poisonous than potassium cyanide. Bites or stings can cause physical paralysis and respiratory difficulty.




김녕해수욕장서 맹독성 파란고리문어 발견


21일 오후 2시 40분쯤
제주시 김녕해수욕장 캠핑장 앞 바다에서
물에 떠 있는 파란고리문어가 발견됐습니다.

발견된 파란고리문어는 가로 4cm, 세로 6cm로
해경이 제주수산연구원에 문의해 자체 폐기했습니다.

파란고리문어는 청산가리보다 10배 이상의 강한 독성을 지녀 물리거나 쏘일 경우 신체 마비나 호흡 곤란 등의 증상이 나타날 수 있습니다.
