Jeju To Attract a New Tourism Agency

Legislative discussions on the establishment of a new Tourism Agency and deployment to Jeju island, one of the Yoon administration's seven significant pledges, is in the talks.

Lawmaker (송재호) Song Jae-ho plans to submit a revision to the National Assembly to establish the new tourism agency.

However, it is expected that it will be challenging to justify Jeju as a suitable location even with a successful revision to the Government Organization Act. Thus, lawmaker Song plans to gain a pledge for Jeju during the deliberation.

With heightened competition among other regions, an active response is required at the provincial level.

관광청 신설과 제주 배치와 관련한 입법 논의가 본격화 될 전망입니다.

송재호 국회의원은 제주 관광청 신설을 위해 정부조직법 개정안을 이번 정기국회에 제출할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.

다만 송 의원은 정부조직법 개정안에 관광청 신설 내용을 포함해도 소재지를 명문화할 수 없어
법안 심의 과정에서 제주 유치를 다짐받겠다는 구상입니다.


관광청은 다른 지방에서도 유치 움직임이 나타나고 있어 제주 차원의 적극적인 대응이 요구되고 있습니다.
