Ex-Officios Identified for Jeju 4.3 Retrials


While the province continues to identify ex-officios, the Ministry of Justice has decided to expand subjects for Jeju 4.3 retrials.

The province noted that the special retrial subject was "a person convicted of Jeju 4.3 incident as a victim." Thus investigations are being held for a total of 1,562 victims based on the Jeju Additional April 3rd Fact Report.

Through Jeju’s first investigation, 163 of the 450 people sentenced in 1947 as victims have been identified and forwarded to the Prosecutors' Office.

제주도가 대상자 확인 작업에 착수했습니다.

제주도는 특별재심 대상이 '희생자로서 제주 4.3사건으로 인해 유죄 판결을 선고 받은 사람'으로 규정된 만큼 4.3 추가진상보고서에 명시된 일반재판 수형인 1천 562명을 대상으로
희생자 여부를 조사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

제주도는 우선 1차 조사를 통해
1947년 판결문에 기록된 인물 450명 가운데
163명을 희생자로 특정하고 심의 자료를 제주지검에 전달했습니다.
