Jeju as Global Hub for Green Hydrogen

The province announced plans to position the island as a Green Hub and lead the new renewable energy-based green hydrogen industry.

The province aims to initiate an ecosystem for green hydrogen by 2025, build production sites and charging stations for each base by 2030, and establish itself as a Green Hydrogen Hub city by 2050.

The plan includes building hydro mobility that includes 300 buses, 200 dump trucks, trams, and ships by 2030 to reduce carbon emissions and set a foundation for industrialization.

Once the nation’s first hydrogen charging station is established in 함덕 (Handeok), infrastructure will be set up at each base for a stable and economic supply system.
They will also focus on legislation and systems to attract related companies, create jobs, and train professionals.




그린수소 글로벌 허브 구축 계획 발표…2050년 거점도시 목표


제주도가 신재생에너지 기반 그린수소 선도지역으로 자리매김하기 위한 그린수소 글로벌 허브 구축 계획을 수립해 발표했습니다.

제주도는 2025년까지 그린수소 초기 생태계를 구축하고, 2030년까지 거점별 생산지와 충전소를 마련하며, 2050년에는 대한민국 그린수소 거점도시로 자리 잡는 것을 목표로 삼았습니다.

특히 2030년까지 버스 300대, 청소차 200대, 트램, 선박 등 수소 모빌리티를 점진적으로 도입해 탄소배출 저감과 산업화 기반을 마련해 나간다는 구상입니다.

또한 함덕에 국내 1호 그린수소 충전소를 시작으로 거점별 인프라를 설치해 수소의 안정적, 경제적 보급 체계를 구축해 나갈 계획입니다.

제주도는 이와 함께 관련 기업 유치와 육성, 일자리 창출, 전문인력 양성 등을 위한 법, 제도 마련에도 집중할 방침입니다.
