Taxi Fares Likely to Increase


The basic fare for standard taxis in Jeju is 3,300 won.
In July 2019, it had increased by 500 won from 2,800 won.


The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced that the basic fare for standard taxis will increase by 1,000 won from 3,800 won to 4,800 won from February next year.


The local taxi industry is demanding the largest ever increase in fares in consideration of rising prices and fuel costs.
It says that a number of drivers are giving up their jobs because they are failing to meet the basic costs of living.

Private taxi drivers are experiencing a difficult time due to the high fuel prices. A taxi fare increase is urgently needed.


The province has launched research to understand the status of the local taxi industry and taxi fares in other cities and provinces.


The province will review adjusting the nighttime surcharge and time affected by the surcharge, along with the basic fare.
The research is expected to be completed at the end of December.

Once the research is done, the province's Transportation Committee and the Price Countermeasures Committee will deliberate on the results of the research, then the province will make a final decision on a taxi fare increase early next year.

The research on taxi fares is underway and it will be completed before the end of December. We're trying to set reasonable and appropriate taxi fares by considering the rising prices and fuel costs.



Meanwhile, the government is considering doubling the taxi booking fee in an attempt to resolve the shortage of taxis late at night.
The burden on taxi passengers will likely increase.



택시요금 인상 가시화…내년 초 결정


제주지역 택시 기본 요금은
중형택시 기준 3천 300원.

지난 2019년 7월,
2천 800원에서 500원 오른 겁니다.

최근 수도권을 시작으로
택시요금 인상이 줄줄이 예고되고 있습니다.

서울시는 내년 2월부터
중형택시 기본 요금을
현재 3천 8백원에서 4천 800원으로
1천원 올리는 인상안을 처리했습니다.


도내 택시 업계에서는
물가와 유류비 상승을 고려해
역대 최대폭의 요금 인상을 요구하고 있습니다.

기본적인 생계비도 나오지 않아
운전대는 놓는 기사들이 속출하고 있다는 겁니다.

현재 유가가 고유가가 된 시점에서 개인 택시 기사님들이 어려움이 많이 있습니다. 가장 원하는 건 요금 인상이 현실적인 문제로 대두되고 있습니다.

제주도는 용역을 통해
도내 택시 엽계 현황과 운영실태,
다른 지역 택시 요금 현황 파악에 나섰습니다.

기본요금과 함께
야간 할증 요금과 시간 조정도 함께 검토하기로 했습니다.

관련 연구 용역은
오는 12월 말 마무리 될 예정입니다.

제주도는 이후 용역 결과를 바탕으로
제주도 교통위원회와 물가대책위의 심의를 거쳐
내년 초 요금 인상 여부를 최종 결정할 계획입니다.

택시 원가 요금 산정을 위한 용역을 12월 말까지 추진중에 있습니다. 물가도 상승됐고 유류비도 올라서 적정한 택시 요금이 마련될 수 있도록 노력하고 있습니다.


여기에 정부가 심야시간 택시 대란 해소를 위해
택시 호출료도 기존보다 2배 올리는 방안을 검토하면서
이용자들의 부담이 커질 것으로 보입니다.
