Jeju Has Lowest Urban Gas Ratio

Jeju has the lowest supply ratio of urban gas in the country.

According to lawmaker (정일영) Chung Il-young of the Democratic Party of Korea of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, as of last year, the average distribution rate of urban gas nationwide, excluding metropolitan areas such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi, was at 76.9%.

9 cities were below the average, and especially Jeju remained at the bottom with 11.7%.

Second after Jeju was Gangwon Province, with 54.1%. Thus the gap between the two regions is much more than 40% points.

Lawmaker Chung emphasized that additional measures should be taken to target blind spots caused by the low supply of urban gas.

제주지역 도시가스 보급률이 전국에서 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났습니다.

국회 산업통상자원중소벤처기업위원회 더불어민주당 정일영 의원에 따르면 지난해 기준으로 서울과 인천, 경기 등 수도권을 제외한 전국 도시가스 평균 보급률은 76.9%으로 9곳이 평균치를 밑돌았고 특히 제주는 11.7%로 최하위에 머물렀습니다.

제주 다음으로 낮은 곳은 강원으로 54.1%를 보여 두 지역 간 격차는 무려 40%포인트 이상 차이나고 있습니다.

정일영 의원은 낮은 도시가스 보급률로 인해 발생하는 에너지 사각지대에 대한 별도의 대책을 마련해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
