Jeju’s Markets Least Insured

The province has recorded the lowest rate of traditional markets insured against fires in the nation.

According to lawmaker (이장섭) Lee Jang-seop of the Democratic Party of In Korea, only 17.5% of approximately 3,700 traditional markets are covered with fire insurance.

Together with Sejong City, Jeju had only 17% insured leaving the cities to rate lowest in the nation.

In addition, only 1% of traditional markets have installed temperature sensors, calling for urgent improvement.

제주 전통시장 점포 3천 7백여 곳의
화재공제 보험 가입률은 17.5%에 그쳤습니다.

이는 전국 17개 시도 가운데
17%에 그친 세종시와 함께 가장 낮은 수치입니다.

화재 경보 알림시설 설치율도
제주는 1%에 머물러 개선이 필요한 것으로
조사됐습니다.
