Jeju-Osaka Air Route Reopens


The international terminal of the Jeju International Airport is full of energy.
About 90 tourists, mostly Japanese, visit Jeju on a regular flight from Osaka, Japan.

The direct regular route between Jeju and Osaka has reopened for the first time in two years and nine months since it was suspended in February 2020.
This is the first reopening of a regular route between Jeju and Japan since the outbreak of COVID-19.

The last three years were too long for me. It's so nice to be here in 3 years. I made a reservation as soon as I heard the news of the reopening of the international flight.

Direct flights between Jeju and Osaka fly every day, seven times a week.

129,000 or about 30 percent of all Korean residents in Japan, live in Osaka, and the resumption of direct flights is expected to boost their visit to Jeju, and tourism exchange between the two regions.

It is most noticeable that it flies every day, seven days a week. It means the demand for flights from Japan to Jeju has increased, and we expect that Japanese tourists will make the local tourism market much more active.

With the reopening of the Jeju-Osaka route, the resumption of direct flights to Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and other cities of Japan is expected to accelerate.

Resumption of direct flights between the island and Taipei City in Taiwan are scheduled for November 25th.
International flights connecting the island and other cities are normalizing one by one.
With international air routes gradually expanding, the sluggish foreign tourism market in Jeju is also expected to regain vitality.




일본 직항노선 재개…해외관광시장 정상화


제주공항 국제선 도착 대합실이 손님 맞이로 분주합니다.

일본인 등 개별 관광객 90여명이
오사카에서 정기편을 타고 제주를 찾았습니다.

제주와 오사카를 잇는 직항 정기노선이
지난 2020년 2월 중단된 이후
2년 9개월 만에 운항을 재개했습니다.

코로나19가 발생한 뒤
제주와 일본을 오가는 정기노선이 뜬 것은 이번이 처음입니다.

3년이 너무 길게 느껴졌습니다. 3년 만에 와서 너무 좋고 비행기가 뜬다는 소식을 알고나서 바로 예약을 했습니다.

제주와 오사카 직항노선은 주 7회 매일 운항됩니다.

특히 오사카 지역은
전체 재일교포의 약 30%인 12만 9천여 명이 거주해
직항노선 재개로
제주 방문과 관광 교류가 활발해질 전망입니다.

(오사카 직항노선 재개의) 가장 큰 의미가 무엇이냐면 주 7일 매일 뜬다는 겁니다. 제주에서 일본으로 가는 게 아니고 일본에서 오는 관광객 수요가 그만큼 늘었다는 것이고 앞으로 일본 관광시장이 훨씬 활성화될 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.

오사카 노선이 열리면서
도쿄, 나고야, 후쿠오카 등
추가적인 일본 직항노선 재개에도 속도가 붙을 전망입니다.

오는 25일에는
대만 타이베이 직항노선이 재취항하는 등
제주 기점 국제선이 하나 둘 정상화되고 있습니다.

국제선 하늘길이 점차 넓어지면서
침체에 빠진 제주 외국인 관광시장도 활력을 되찾을 것으로 보입니다.
