In August, a man in his 40s was sentenced to prison for inappropriately spitting on a flight because of a crying child.

Judge (강란주) Kang ran-ju of the Jeju Court sentenced a 47-year-old defendant who was arrested for violating the Aviation Security Act to one-and-a-half years in prison with three years of probation.

The court came to its decision taking into consideration that the defendant repented and underwent detention for three months in spite of the requirement of harsh punishment for the trauma caused in addition to a large number of criminal records including violence.




제주행 항공기에서 소란 피운 40대 징역형


지난 8월 제주를 오가는 항공기에서 아이가 운다는 이유로 침을 뱉는 등 소란을 피운 40대가 징역형을 받았습니다.


제주지방법원 형사3단독 강란주 판사는 항공보안법 위반 등의 혐의로 구속 기소된 47살 진 모 피고인에게 징역 1년 6월에 집행유예 3년을 선고했습니다.

재판부는 판결문에서 피해자들이 느꼈을 모멸감과 정신적 충격을 가늠하기 어렵고
폭력 등 전과가 다수여서 엄벌이 필요하지만 잘못을 뉘우치고 있고 3개월간 구금된 점 등을 감안해 이같이 선고한다고 판시했습니다.
