Grocery Prices Still High


This is a big supermarket in Jeju City.
Shoppers in front of the grocery stand are hesitating.

Because they are shocked at grocery prices that have risen significantly this year.

The price of a carton of 30 eggs in Jeju exceeded 7,000 won. Eggs in Jeju are the most expensive in the nation.
Prices of most grocery items including radish, green onion, cooking oil, and milk have gone up.

Things are hard. High grocery prices add difficulties.


According to Statistics Korea, consumer prices in Jeju rose 5.3% last month compared to a year ago.
Compared to 6.5 percent in October, inflation slowed by 1.2 percentage points in a month.

By item, agricultural, livestock and fisheries products rose slightly by 0.5%, industrial products rose 6.2%, and services rose 5.1%, respectively.

Inflation has slowed down, but prices don’t come down.
Consumers' burden has not been eased as prices of agricultural products and fuel rose sharply last year.

Prices are going up a little bit overall. We're trying to give good products to our customers at a low price for them to feel less burdened.


The Bank of Korea predicts that high prices will continue as consumer price growth remains in the 5 percent range until early next year.
Households are increasingly burdened as high levels of inflation are expected to continue for the time being.





계란 한판 7,000원...한풀 꺾여도 '고물가'


제주시내 한 마트입니다.

매대 앞에 선 고객들이 한참을 망설입니다.

올들어
밥상 물가가 크게 오르면서
물건을 선뜻 집어 들기가 쉽지 않기 때문입니다.


제주지역 계란 한 판 가격은
전국에서 유일하게 7천원을 넘어섰습니다.

무와 파, 식용유, 우유 등
가격이 오르지 않은 품목이 없습니다.

가격도 안 오른 게 없듯이 다 같이 오르는 추세니깐 그런대로 절약해서 사 먹는 수밖에 없죠.

반찬거리도 그렇고 와이프하고 장 보러 왔지만 모든 게 힘들고 어려운데...



통계청에 따르면
지난달 제주지역 소비자물가는
1년 전과 비교해 5.3% 상승했습니다.

지난 10월 6.5%와 비교하면
물가 오름폭은 한 달 새 1.2%포인트 둔화됐습니다.


품목별로 보면
농축수산물이 0.5% 소폭 상승했으며
공업제품은 6.2%,
서비스는 5.1% 각각 올랐습니다.

물가 상승세가 한풀 꺾였지만
여전히 5%대의 고물가 상황이 이어지고

농산물과 석유류는 지난해
큰 폭으로 오른 기저효과로
상승세가 둔화된 거여서
소비자들의 물가 부담은 나아지지 않고 있습니다.

물가 자체는 전체적으로 좀 오르는 추세입니다. 그런 부담 때문에 고객님들이 부담스러우실까봐 고객들에게 좋은 상품 저렴하게 드리려고 노력하고 있습니다.

한국은행은 내년 초까지
소비자물가 상승률이 5%대를 유지하면서
고물가 상황이 지속될 것으로 내다봤습니다.

당분간 높은 수준의 물가 상승세가 이어질 것으로 예상되면서
가계 부담이 점점 커지고 있습니다.
