The development period for the (묘산봉) Myosanbong Tourist Complex and
Jeju Animal Theme Park in (구좌읍) Gujwa-eup, Jeju City has been extended.

The Jeju Development Project Review Committee held a meeting on the 1st and conditionally decided to extend the project period for the tourist complex by one year and the animal theme park by two years.

For the Myosanbong Complex development project, no other partial sales were carried out other than the recreational and cultural facilities including its botanical gardens.
This was suggested in order to help resolve residents' conflicts and find a win-win solution.

Similar plans will be submitted as a condition for developing the animal theme park for the revised business plan deliberation for 2023. The same conditions to include a win-win plan to resolve resident conflicts will apply.

However, regarding the results, it will be inevitable to avoid conflicts in people’s interests over the deliberation results.




묘산봉관광단지-동물테마파크 사업기간 '연장'


제주시 구좌읍 묘산봉관광단지와
제주동물테마파크 개발사업 기간이 연장됐습니다.


제주도 개발사업심의위원회는 지난 1일 회의를 열어 묘산봉관광단지 조성사업의 사업기간을 1년, 동물테마파크는 2년 연장하는 것을 조건부 의결했습니다.


묘산봉개발사업의 경우
식물원 등 휴양문화시설 사업의 우선 추진과 재원확보를 위한 사전부분매각만 인정하고
추가 부분매각은 진행하지 않을 것,
주민 갈등 해소와
상생방안 제출을 조건으로 제시했습니다.

동물테마파크는 사업변경계획에 대해 2
023년까지 개발사업변경 심의를 신청하고
주민갈등 해소와 상생방안을 제출할 것을 조건으로 결정했습니다.

이번 심의결과에 대해
해당지역의 주민간 찬반이 엇갈리면서
앞으로 이를 둘러싼 갈등은
불가피할 전망입니다.
