Jeju 4.3 Victims Identified from Daejeon Prison


The Province and Jeju 4.3 Peace Foundation will push for genetic identification of Jeju 4.3 victims who were taken to prisons outside of the province and were lost.

200 remains from (골령골) Golryeonggol Valley in Daejeon, known as a civilian group victim site during Korean War will be excavated.

By the end of this year, identifications will be confirmed by comparing sample collections and genetic identification of the remains discovered. In particular, a cross check will be made with blood tests of bereaved family members for victims who left Jeju island and were lost.

Based on the list of prisoners in Daejeon Prison, 298 victims of Jeju 4.3 are believed to have been buried in (골령골)Golryeonggol, Daejeon, after being massacred.




대전 형무소 유해 4·3 희생자 신원 확인 추진


제주특별자치도와 제주 4.3평화재단이 진실·화해를 위한 과거사정리위원회와 함께 도외 형무소로 끌려가 행방불명된 4.3 희생자의 신원확인을 위한 유전자 감식을 추진합니다.

이를 위해 우선 한국전쟁 전후 민간인 집단희생지로 알려진 대전 골령골 발굴 유해 200여구에 대해 진행합니다.


올 연말까지 두차례에 나눠 발굴된 유해에 대한 시료 채취와 유전자 감식, 그리고 그동안 도외 행불인 유족을 대상으로 실시한 채혈 결과와 대조해 신원을 확인하게 됩니다.


대전형무소 수감자 명단을 토대로 4.3 희생자 298명이 집단 학살된 후 대전 골령골에 묻힌 것으로 추정되고 있습니다.
