Seogwipo City has been selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to host support of foreign workers.

Local agricultural cooperatives selected by local governments will hire foreign seasonal workers and match manpower with farmers while farmers pay daily fees.

It is expected to help farmers obtain required manpower in a timely manner with no extra brokerage fees, and short-term employment contracts are possible.

Seogwipo City plans to receive 50 additional foreign seasonal workers in time for the tangerine harvest season in October and operate them through the Wimi Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

서귀포시가 농림축산식품부가 주관한
외국인 공공형 계절근로사업 공모에 선정됐습니다.

외국인 계절근로사업은 지자체가 선정한 지역농협이 외국인 계절 근로자를 고용하고 농가와 인력을 매칭해주면 농가가 일일 단위로 이용료를 납부하는 방식입니다.

특히 적기에 인력을 공급받을 수 있고 중개수수료가 없고 단기 고용계약이 가능해 농가 호응이 기대됩니다.

서귀포시는 오는 10월 감귤 수확기에 맞춰 50명의 외국인 계절근로자를 추가로 받고 위미농협을 통해 운영할 계획입니다.
