Korean Air has started a pilot operation of the "self-luggage drop" service at (김해) Gimhae Airport in Busan.

This service entrusts baggage using an automated device without the help of airline staff, and is currently being implemented at Incheon International Airport.

With the introduction of this service, domestic flights will operate self check-in services, from ticket issuance to baggage consignment.

Korean Air plans to test-run the service for six months and expand it to other airports such as Jeju Airport.




대한항공, 승객이 수하물 위탁 '셀프 백 드롭' 시범 운영


대한항공이 '셀프 백 드롭' 서비스를 부산 김해공항에서 시범 운영에 들어갔습니다.

이 서비스는 항공사 직원 도움 없이 수하물을 자동화 기기를 이용해 직접 위탁하는 것으로 현재 인천국제공항에서 시행 중입니다.

이번 서비스가 도입되면 국내선에서도 항공권 발권부터 수하물 위탁까지 탑승수속 모든 과정을 혼자서 할 수 있게 됩니다.

대한항공은 이 서비스를 6개월 간 시범 운영한 이후 제주공항 등 다른 공항으로 확대 운영해 나갈 예정입니다.
