The (해녀굿) Haenyeogut is a ritual that wishes for the safe well-being and good catch of the haenyeo women divers and will be held at 32 fishing villages in the province until April.

The (해녀굿) Haenyeogut is called by various names such as (용왕굿) Yongwanggut, (용등굿) Yeongdeunggut, (해신제) Haesinje, and (수신제) Susinje. The ritual is organized by the village and fishing community and is held for two months from the beginning of January until the beginning of March of the lunar calendar.

(영등굿) Yeongdeunggut, the representative of (해녀굿) Haenyeogut rituals is a folk ritual that welcomes the (영등) Yeongdeung god for abundance.

The god of wind (영등신) Yeongdeungshin is believed to visit Jeju Island on the first day of February to sow grain and seafood before passing through Udo island on its way home on the 15th.



'해녀 무사안녕·풍요 기원' 해녀굿 어촌계별 봉     

해녀들의 무사안녕과 풍어를 기원하는 해녀굿이 오는 4월까지 도내 32개 어촌계별로 봉행되고 있습니다.

용왕굿, 영등굿, 해신제, 수신제 등 다양한 명칭으로 불리는 해녀굿은 마을어촌계 주관으로 음력 1월 초부터 3월초까지 두달간 도내 해안가 일원에서 진행됩니다.

해녀굿의 대표격인 영등굿은 풍요를 가져다주는 영등신을 맞이하고 보내는
민속 제례로 바람의 신인 영등신이 매년 음력 2월 초하룻날 제주도에 찾아와 곡식과 해산물의 씨를 뿌리고 15일에 우도를 통해 고향으로 되돌아간다고 민간에서 전해지고 있습니다.
