As of the end of December of last year, the population of Jeju marked 699,751.

This population is an increase of 2,200 compared to a year ago, with 678,000 Koreans and 21,000 foreigners in total.

The Province announced the resident registration demographics.

The number of households increased by 3,800 compared to the previous year to 311,000, while the population per household was 2.18, down 0.02 from the previous year.

By age group, the proportion of people in their 40s and 50s was the highest at 33.5%, while the youth population marked 13.2%. The working age population which is from age 15 to 65 reached 70.2% and the elderly population over 65 years of age accounted for 16.6%.

By administrative district, (노형동) Nohyeong-dong in Jeju city has a population of 57,000 while (동홍동) Donghong-dong in Seogwipo city marked 24,000, making these the largest populated cities of each district.




제주도 인구 69만 9,751명…2천200명 증가


지난해 12월 말 기준으로 제주지역 인구가 69만 9천 751명으로 나타났습니다.

이같은 인구수는 1년 전에 비해 2천 200명 늘어난 것으로 내국인은 67만 8천명, 외국인은 2만 1천명입니다.

제주특별자치도가 이같은 내용의 주민등록 인구통계를 공표했습니다.

세대수는 31만 1천세대로 전년 대비 3천 800세대 증가한 반면 세대 당 인구는 2.18명으로 전년에 비해 0.02명 감소했습니다.

연령대별로 보면 40~50대 비중이 33.5%로 가장 높은 가운데 유소년인구는 13.2%, 생산가능인구인 15살에서 65살까지는 70.2%, 65살 이상의 고령인구는 16.6%를 차지했습니다.

읍면동별로 보면 제주시 노형동이 5만 7천여명, 서귀포시 동홍동이 2만 4천여명으로 양 행정시에서 가장 많은 것으로 집계됐습니다.
