A situation has arisen where political parties in Jeju are criticizing (김재원) Kim Jae-won, a senior member of the ruling party, over his remarks on the April 3rd National Memorial Day, claiming that they were inappropriate.

The Jeju Branch of the Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement strongly criticizing Kim's comments and the ruling party's senior members, including (김태호) Tae Young-ho, for mocking the bereaved families on the day of the memorial ceremony.

They also pointed out that the Jeju branch of the main opposition party, the People Power Party, has remained silent and has not expressed any position on this issue.

The Jeju branch of the minor opposition party, the People's Party, also criticized the ruling party for supporting distortion of the truth about the April 3rd incident, leaving the person who made inappropriate remarks unpunished, and ignoring the spirit of the times, predicting that they will suffer defeat in future local elections in Jeju.
