After just four months, some franchise stores in Jeju have decided to conditionally opt-in to the Disposable Cup Deposit System, marking a reversal of their prior refusal.

Jeju Franchise Store Owners’ Association held a press conference to express their agreement with the system’s purpose and to announce their conditional participation.

However, they also called for the ordinance to be revised and implemented to include all businesses on Jeju using disposable cups.

The small size of some stores presented challenges in installing simple collection bins, so they requested that Jeju expand public return sites and join the system.


This decision means that approximately 120 franchise stores in Jeju will participate in the system.

제도 시행 4개월 만에 동참합니다.

제주프랜차이즈점주협의회는 기자회견을 열고
일회용컵 보증금 제도의 취지에 공감하며
조건부 동참을 결정하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

다만 일회용컵을 사용하는
제주도 내 모든 사업장을 대상으로
제도를 시행할 수 있도록
조례 개정과 시행을 촉구했습니다.

이와 함께 매장이 협소해
간이회수기 설치 등이 어려운 경우도 있는 만큼
공공 반납처의 확대와
제도 동참을 위한 제주도 차원의 지원을 요구했습니다.

이번 결정으로
제주도 내 프랜차이즈 매장 120여 곳에서
일회용컵 보증금제도에 동참할 예정입니다.
