The government has selected Jeju as one of the areas to conduct a health impact survey on the effects of asbestos on residents' health.

The Ministry of Environment has designated four areas, including Jeju, for asbestos health impact surveys this year.

In the province, the screening targets residents aged 40 or older who have lived for 10 years or more within a 2km radius of the Jeju Shipyard in (건입동) Geonip-dong, as well as (일도1,2동) Ildo 1 and 2-dong, (이도 일1동) Ido 1-dong, (삼다동) Samdo-dong, and (용담동) Yongdam-dong.

Through chest X-rays, CT scans, and lung function tests, suspected asbestos-related diseases will be diagnosed, and if the results are positive, medical expenses and living allowances will be supported.

Starting this month, the health impact survey will hold preliminary explanation sessions and will be carried out by mobile screening vehicles from June onwards.

제주를 포함한 4개 시도를 결정했습니다.

제주의 경우 검진대상은
건입동 제주 조선소를 중심으로
반경 2km 이내인
건입동과 일도1.2동, 이도1동, 삼도동, 용담동에
10년 이상 거주하고 있는 만 40살 이상 주민입니다.


흉부 X선 촬영과 CT검사, 폐기능 검사를 통해
석면 질병 의심 여부를 판정하고
정밀검사 결과 양성으로 나오면
의료비와 생활수당 등을 지원받게 됩니다.

석면노출지역 주민건강영향조사는
이달부터
사전설명회를 개최하고
6월부터 이동검진차량에 의해 이뤄집니다.
