The province will be operating a public seasonal work project for foreigners for the first time.

The seasonal labor program is a system in which a local agricultural cooperative hires foreign seasonal workers and matches them with farms while the farms pay a daily fee to the cooperative.

This is expected to help reduce the burden on farmers.

Seogwipo City plans to employ 50 Vietnamese seasonal workers through the Wimi Agricultural Cooperative, which is the operating body, and assign them to farms as needed starting in October.




서귀포시, 외국인 공공형 계절근로사업 본격 운영


서귀포시가 농촌 인력난 해소를 위해
제주에서는 처음으로 외국인 공공형 계절근로사업을 도입해 운영에 들어갑니다.

공공형 계절근로사업은 지역농협이 외국인 계절근로자를 고용해 농가에 매칭해주면 농가가 하루 단위로 농협에 이용료를 납부하는 방식입니다.

특히 농협이 근로자 계약 등을 담당하기 때문에
농가 부담이 줄어들 전망입니다.

서귀포시는 운영 주체인 위미농협을 통해
오는 10월 베트남 외국인 계절근로자 50명을 고용하고
필요한 농가에 배치할 계획입니다.
