Country of Origin To Be Checked on Seafoods

As concerns about the safety of seafood have increased due to the recent issue of releasing contaminated water from Fukushima, Jeju Island is conducting a special inspection of the origin of imported seafood.

The inspection will be carried out for two months from May and will target seafood restaurants through joint efforts of the government and private sectors.

In particular, scallops, sea bream, and cockles, which had a high import value and consumption volume this year, will be designated as key inspection items to focus.

Jeju Island also plans to carry out promotional activities for mandatory origin labeling for targeted items starting from July 1st, after the inspection period.

최근 후쿠시마 오염수 방류 문제로
수산물 안전에 대한 우려가 높아진 가운데
제주도가 수입수산물 원산지 특별 단속을 실시합니다.



이번 점검은 5월부터 두달동안 수산물을 취급 일반 음식점을 대상으로 민관 합동으로 이뤄집니다.



특히 올해 수입 이력이 있고 소비량이 많은
가리비와 참돔, 우렁쉥이를 중점 점검 품목으로 지정해 원산지 표시 여부를 집중적으로 확인하게 됩니다.

제주도는 점검기간 오는 7월 1일부터
원산지 표시 의무 대상 품목에 대한 홍보도 병행할 계획입니다.
