Jeju proposes an ordinance to ban "no kids zones" from refusing entry to children and their guardians.

The ordinance was introduced by lawmaker (송창권) Song Chang-gwon and aims to prevent businesses from discriminating against children for no particular reason.

The ordinance does not include penalties for violators as there is no legal basis for such measures, however according to the Jeju Social Welfare Research Center, there are 78 "no kids zones" in the province, comprising 14% of such businesses nationwide.
Public opinions will be collected until May 8.




아동출입제한업소 '노키즈존' 금지 조례안 발의


제주에서 영유아나 어린이를 동반한 손님을 거절하는 이른바 '노키즈존'을 금지하는 조례가 발의됐습니다.
송창권 제주도의원은 아동출입제한업소 지정 금지 조례안을 대표 발의하고
오는 8일까지 의견을 수렴한다고 밝혔습니다.
이 조례안은 특별한 이유 없이 아동 또는 아동을 동반한 보호자의 출입을 제한할 수 없도록 도지사가 노력해야 한다는 내용을 담고 있습니다.
다만 법률 근거가 없어 위반 과태료 부과 등의 처분 내용은 빠졌습니다. 제주사회복지연구센터에 따르면 도내 노키즈존 업소는 78군데로 전국의 14%를 차지합니다.
